It's that time of the year...

I don't know too much about football, but I do know how to support my team (can I get a Go Blue?)! In anticipation and celebration for the first game of the season this weekend, this version of the Lloyd Dress is The Style Cooperative's Look of the Week, meaning it's half price for one week only (through Wednesday of next week).

This is one of those versatile pieces that can take you from Saturday shopping straight to tailgate in style. The stretch gives you a little wiggle room, and the fabric makes it feel a little refined.

Meet Adlin, a big supporter of The Co-Op and member of the Freelance Brigade.  She's making a special trip back to University of Michigan to cheer her team on in classic Co-Op style with the Lloyd Dress in canary and stripes.  If you happen to run into her at the game, tell her you recognize her from the blog, and she'll give you a discount code good for anything by The Style Cooperative.

Clothes and sports? Now that's multitasking.

City Slicking

It's suddenly mid-August. Raise your hand if your looked up and couldn't figure out where summer went.

I've been having a great few days running around Chicago working on The Co-Op events and even meeting a few readers that recognize me out. How exciting (and humbling) is that??

Sometimes when I'm out running errands and generally going crazy with my to-do lists (yes, plural) I love that I can look more together than I feel by throwing on a simple dress in a great color, like The Co-Op's Norway dress here.

I added The Co-Op's floral pocket square at the shoulder for just a little flare... and because I found one hiding at the bottom of my bag.  Stacked a few bangles on my arm, added my favorite watch, and I was ready.

Ready, set, go.

Summer and the City

Hope everyone is having the most fantastic 4th of July weekend!  I've been quite the busy one between barbecues and another photo shoot this weekend.  I've also added a few more items to the pop-up shop for you to take a look at.

Want to see some of the clothes in action?  Here are a few outtakes of the shoot last weekend that I made a little cameo in. Singing and dancing, party of one. Just like nobody is looking.

This version of the Fletcher Maxi is a hit, but approaching unavailable as the summer is wrapping up- if you have custom requests before the official site launches, shoot me a note (rachel@thestylecooperative.com) and mention you caught it on the blog. I'll take good care of you.

Making it Hers: Jess of Makeunder My Life

A few weeks back, I had the great pleasure of working with the ever inspiring Jess of Makeunder My Life to do a little design collaboration.

She was looking for a dress to wear to a big family party; something fun & pretty.  We started with designing the shape that the dress would be including length, neckline, and more.  She told me what she liked about dresses she already has, and what she wishes she had.  Above is (very) roughly what we came up with.

Then it was off to look at fabrics.  We searched and searched, but for some reason nothing was standing out as a "have to have".  Inspired by interiors and her new branding, Jess was drawn to more modular prints that are common to home decor.  Then she spotted something that was love at first site.

After a fitting and some creating, Jess was able to try on something that we drew out together at my kitchen table over some ice tea.

She was darling in the dress at the Blogger Meet-Up this past weekend, where I was able to see the dress in action for the very first time. She looks great, no?

Meet Laura

If you spend a considerable amount of time with me (or in my facebook albums), you'll see that once I find a shape that I love, it shows up in many different ways. My staple for the past few years: a cap-sleeve sheath dress... with pockets.

I've made this dress in silky black, knitted mint green, and countles
s other fabric perutations of it. Seriously, I can't stop.

Recently I picked up a great fabric by Marimekko (which I could also go on and on about). I even made a fabric rosette headband with the remnants because I loved it so much. Possibly a full mini to come as well.... but I digress.

Instead of leaving the dress as is this time around, I decided it would look great as a shorter dress, and even a tunic! So with some carefully calculated button placement:

The Laura Dress

If you are one to see me around town, get ready to see this (and lovely versions of it) all the time.

I Believe in a Thing Called Sleeves

I love dresses. I love warmth. If I can have it all, we've got a mini dress with long sleeves and tights. And just as luck has it, they are just about everywhere (and by everywhere, I mean you still have to search for decent versions and for realistic prices... ahem, Temperley).

Here's my round-up:

1. Ingwa Melero 2. vintage 3. vintage 4. T-Bags 5. American Apparel 6. Temperely 7. Karina Grimaldi

In classic Rachel form, I tire of what's out there, so I am fashioning my own at home this week. I'll be sure to post the end results when I'm finished. It's going to be teal and lovely.
