Men's Style & Movies

In some more recent internet wandering, I came across the truly fantastic Moxy Creative Group with great projects that are both refreshing and innovative.

In their "Dress the Part" series, they created movie posters illustrations of popular films, all with an emphasis on menswear. I wish they would do one for The Great Gatsby!

(Also very worth checking out, their "Ensenble" series.)

Just had to...

Ok ok. I know I'm supposed to be on a blogger break right now, but I simply HAD to share this photo set I saw here. It's from Paris circa 1962. The colors, the comfort, the emotion, the style.

The photo set text reads:

Images from Paris cafés and nightlife in 1962, the same week Yves St. Laurent's runway show vaulted Dior to new heights.

Many scenes around Les Halles (which no longer exists as it did then).

I melt.

The Anthropologist

Man. How I've totally neglected you my lovely blog. Now I'm back in action and have lots of lovely things to share with you lovely people. Perfect, right? Usually I try to limit my wild card randomness to one post per week, but since I'm a little behind right now, I'll jump ahead this week because something that just cannot wait came across my computer today.

Some of you may have heard, but Anthropologie launched an online project called the Anthropologist that serves for inspiration. No e-commerce. No links to encourage you to buy stuff you don't really need. No weird draws to blogs and other randomness. Just really good content waiting for you to discover!

Currently featured are director Jane Campion, filmmaker / photographer Andrew Zukerman, and photographer David Eustace.

If I could be in love with a website, this very well could be it.

Design Thinking

There are some things that have an unnatural soft spot in my heart: NPR, great danes, overpriced art supplies, and well constructed vintage clothes. Then, out of nowhere, something else slips into the mix. Enter TED.

One of my recent favorite videos on TED is Tim Brown's talk on Design Thinking. He speaks about things that most of us can relate to: creativity, human nature, innovation, and more. The great thing about the talk is that he hits on a lot of areas that I've either worked on (clean water in India) or would like to in the future (creating a social change through fashion). The idea of moving from creating kitchen objects to creating a better world through design is incredible, and maybe the most basic thought that too few people toss around.

Other interesting talks on design & other tidbits of fascination:
